I have had the pleasure of working with Greg for the last 13 years and I have reported directly to him for the last four. During that time Greg’s influence on Roehl Transport and on me personally has been significant. I’ll distill what I view as the most influential actions that Greg has had on Roehl and me to three points:
1. Greg is an expert on human behavior and what motivates decisions and actions within groups and individuals. This insight has helped to create a healthy and thriving organizational culture that facilitates teamwork and consequently the growth and development of the team and the individual members of the team.
2. Greg has taught me that work is more that just a place to show up for eight hours a day – it is a place to make a difference. Greg understands that to get the best out of people you have to appeal to their sense of purpose and belonging. This understanding fosters loyalty and creates an environment where people look for ways to go above and beyond what is minimally required.
3. Greg knows the importance of words and using words to intentionally create and maintain a healthy organizational culture. What Greg has taught me in this area has made me a better communicator professionally and personally.
There are many other qualities that Greg has as a leader and influencer that have impacted me. I will simply say that I am a better person today because of the influence that Greg Koepel has had on my life.
